Harry Hayman

Philadelphia

One operator.
A dozen worlds.

EntrepreneurOperatorProducer FounderFellowInvestor

He started at the dish pit and worked every level of the trade. Forty years later his perspective isn’t theoretical — it was earned, across food systems, public policy, jazz, film, AI and the creative economy.

01 — The climb

He started at the dish pit.

Nobody handed him a boardroom. He earned every level of the house, in order — and never forgot the view from the bottom.

The floor

Dish pit

The bottom of the house, and the only place you learn what every other job actually costs the person doing it.

The line

Kitchen and bar

Service under pressure. How a room turns, how a ticket backs up, and what a team looks like when it holds.

The room

Management

Running the floor rather than working it. Reading a room before it tells you anything, and staffing for the night you get, not the one you planned.

The house

Multi-unit operations

Restaurants and music rooms across the city, and the discipline of making the same standard hold in buildings you are not standing in.

The table

Ownership

Across the table from developers, attorneys, architects, agencies, investors and landlords — from Philadelphia to the West Coast.

Today

Food systems and policy

The same trade, applied to a city. Coalitions, public policy, arts as economic development, and the creative economy.

02 — The worlds

Hospitality was the foundation, not the whole story.

Each of these is a world he founded, owns, or leads today.

Hospitality

Bynum Hospitality Group

Multi-unit operations and management across the city’s restaurant and music rooms.

Consulting

Gemini Hospitality Consultants

Strategy, business development and the implementation other people leave undone.

Owned concepts

East Coast Saloons & Renegade Tacos

Owned and operated concepts — the ones with his own money in them.

Food systems

Feed Philly Coalition

A coalition, a corporation and a mission built around feeding the food-insecure. Founder.

Arts & culture

The Philadelphia Jazz Experience

Arts and culture as an economic-development and education tool. Founder, 501(c)(3).

Public policy

Economy League of Greater Philadelphia

Senior Fellow for the Food Economy & Policy, and PAGE program lead.

03 — The story

A Philadelphia life, spent building things that didn’t exist before.

Harry Hayman is a prominent figure in Philadelphia, known for his many business ventures and charitable causes.

He first made a name for himself in the restaurant and hospitality industries, with a resume that includes the Bynum Hospitality Group, Gemini Hospitality Consultants, East Coast Saloons and Renegade Tacos.

He currently participates in numerous forms of community involvement, including frequent speaking engagements, the Feed Philly Coalition and The Philadelphia Jazz Experience.

Across the table from developers, attorneys, architects, agencies, investors and landlords — in every market from Philadelphia to the West Coast — the trade is still the ground he builds on: how to read a room, hold a team together, and make a business that works the moment the doors open.

Today that work spans food systems, public policy, jazz, film, artificial intelligence and the creative economy.

Where the work goes back.

Businessman. Hospitality management specialist. Consultant. Humanitarian. Harry Hayman.

Harry Hayman currently participates in numerous forms of community involvement, including his frequent speaking engagements, the Feed Philly Coalition and The Philadelphia Jazz Experience, which he founded and created.

These are just a few examples of Harry's recent accomplishments.

Harry’s love of jazz stems from his time as a bartender in a jazz club in the 90s. He had loved music all his life, but only as an adult did he fully come to appreciate jazz’s power to bring people together. This motivated Harry to start the Philadelphia Jazz Experience, which teaches young people about the music and culture of jazz, and also aims to get them interested in the arts in general.

These are two of the organizations in which Harry participated during his time at The American University and maintains an affiliation to this day.

Harry is a frequent contributor, having hosted events and volunteered. His advertising dollars helped to fund the construction of a field for the Challenger League.
